![]() Chillingham Village in the Tweed ValleyTweed Coast Hinterland, Northern Rivers region of the Far North Coast NSW, AustraliaChillingham is a quaint village only 15 minutes drive from Murwillumbah along tourist drive 34 travelling towards Springbrook National Park, Natural Bridge and Nerang. Take time out to stop and enjoy lunch at Chillingham Store, or something cooler in their charming beer garden at the back of the store, wander around the bush tucker gardens at Banana Cabana or browse at Olde Butchery Shoppe Pottery where you'll find a selection of one off, beautifully hand made pottery pieces by a local artist.
![]() Local potter, John, and his father lovingly restored the Olde Butchery in 2004 as a venue to display and sell John's pottery. From mugs, to bowls and ceramic tree frogs, you're sure to find a beautiful hand-crafted piece as a unique souvenir of your visit to the Tweed Valley. Also of interest is the history of Chillingham village told in old newspaper clippings and photographs displayed on the shop walls.
![]() The Banana Cabana is a perfect spot for a quiet coffee before a tour around the bush-tucker garden ~ kids will love their famous chocolate coated bananas. In addition to tropical fruits, you'll find a range of home-made preserves for sale so you can take a home a taste of the Tweed from your Northern NSW holiday adventure. Tucked away behind Chillingham Village Hall is a delight for the senses at Crystal Waters Hand-Made Soaps & Gift Shop. Each unique hand-made soap is lovingly crafted from natural organic products with no animal testing or food colouring involved in the process. Open from 11 to 2:30 weekdays and 9 to 5 on weekends, Crystal Waters is located at 1 Satinwood Place, Phone: (02) 6679 1308 for more information. Further along Numinbah Valley you should plan to stop off at Natural Bridge. If you're staying in the area then a night-time visit is highly recommended as the cave is home to Australia's largest glow-worm colony, whilst the rainforest itself comes alive with fireflies after dark. ![]() Natural Bridge is a rock archway formed by the eroding waters of Cave Creek, which now plunge through the hole in the cave to a chilly pool below. To protect the delicate ecology, it's no longer permitted to walk along the Bridge itself, however you can still swim in the pool below. Remember glow-worms and fireflies can only be seen after dark, so you will be disappointed if you go there during daylight hours. Smoke from cigarettes or fires can kill glow worms - please do not expose them to it. ![]()
